Island VetCare is an independent veterinary practice based in Ryde, Isle of Wight. We are conveniently located to the south of Ryde off of Brading Road (directly through McDonald's car park and next to Tesco Extra). With plenty of parking, our brand new facility offers a convenient, modern, family-friendly veterinary practice to care for the pets of Ryde and the surrounding area.
Island VetCare's ethos is based on a compassionate and individual approach, working with you and your pet to achieve the best outcome and highest level of care.
Directors Matthew Twitchett and Ian Nicholson have designed the new practice with clients and pets in mind. By discussing vaccinations and parasite control, nutrition, exercise and behaviour we can advise on preventative health plans that are tailored to you and your pet. Direct access to veterinary specialists helps us to support you to make fully informed decisions for your pet and give them the highest level of care. Our ultimate aim is successful treatment not overtreatment.
We understand the bond that you share with your pet, the love that you feel, and their importance in your life, because we feel the same way about our own furry family members. When your pet is unwell, we know exactly how you feel. We’ve been there, through the worry, anxiety and concern. And while we want the most advanced therapy possible for our pets, what is really important is the knowledge that they will receive the most tender, attentive, and compassionate care possible, being treated as individuals with individual needs. Every animal that comes into our practice is a pet, not just a patient.
Island VetCare is a local and independent 'family run' practice. Our fabulous staff have experience of working in many different practices and feel strongly that our unique set-up enables them to work to the best of their abilities and in the best interests of our patients. They are not pushed to meet sales targets or meet Key Performance Indicators.
Island VetCare has been designed with pets and family's needs in mind. Not only do we offer completely separate dog and cat waiting areas, but, we have a cat consultation room that is (and always will be) for cats...and cats only! We have a play area for small children so that you do not have to worry about the challenges of juggling pets and kids. We also offer a 'quiet room' with a comfy sofa for longer consultations and (when the time comes) can be a more relaxed environment to spend time with your pet if 'Rainbow Bridge' is calling.
Island VetCare is available for your pet 24 hours a day. Our regular opening hours are Monday to Friday 8.30am - 6pm and 10-12am on Saturdays. If you have an emergency we are always available to give advice over the phone or see you for an out of hours consultation at our Ryde practice. In case of an emergency please call our regular number (01983) 214747 and you will be put through to the vet on duty.
Island VetCare is the home of Island Referrals. Headed up by Ian NicholsonBVSc CertSAS DipECVS MRCVS RCVS and ECVS Specialist in Small Animal Surgery, Island Referrals is the first of its kind in offering Island pets a highly specialised referral service locally. This is a huge benefit to the Island as it takes the stress (and expense) out of transferring a sick pet to and from the mainland.
If you would like to discuss anything regarding your concerns for your pet please call and make an appointment.
