SILVER Rabbit Friendly Status

The Islands first accredited Rabbit Friendly Vets!

Island VetCare have been awarded Silver Rabbit Friendly Status by the Rabbit Welfare Association & Fund (RWAF).

Island VetCare are dedicated to making your pets experience at the veterinary practice as stress free as possible regardless of their size. With this in mind, we applied for RWAF’s renowned Rabbit Friendly Status to show our clients that we adhere to a set of criteria, set out by RWAF, to ensure we provide and maintain a high standard of rabbit veterinary care.

Rabbit specialist Richard Saunders (RCVS Specialist in Zoo and Wildlife Medicine) reviewed Island VetCare’s application and we are proud to announce that we have been awarded Silver accreditation.

At Island VetCare we have separate rabbit accommodation, which has been soundproofed, has a viewing window to ensure that your rabbit is as comfortable and stress-free as possible during their visit and a large exercise area for long-term patients.  We also have veterinary equipment which is used specifically used for treating rabbits.

Staff are sensitive and respectful in their approach to handling rabbits and are continuously updating their knowledge on rabbit welfare and treatment.  We never take rabbits into a dog consult room (where the smells may cause distress) and we also offer limited consultation times for rabbits when there will be no dogs in the waiting room.

Our website has a dedicated rabbit page for the advice on rabbit care and welfare. If you have any questions with regards to your rabbit, please feel free to phone or email Island VetCare (01983) 214747 – info@islandvetcare.co.uk
